The original tweed hardshell case is included and very well-kept with brown leather ends, a luggage-style handle as seen on early Fender cases, and the plush red interior consistent with early Koylon-branded Strat cases. The original Fender waterslide decal is present, and the Desert Sand finish shows some scuffs and scratches to the right of the decal, as well as some wear on the back including a small spot through the lacquer. The chrome plating on the control plate still has plenty of shine with faint patina on the bass-side edge where the palm rests, and the original pair of flat-topped black knurled knobs is intact. The pickup even retains the original "Cheerio" rubber spacers between the pickup cover and baseplate. The electronics are untouched, with original solder joints, red Astron "dynamite" tone cap, and 250k Stackpole pots that date to the 20th week of '56. The scale length is 22 1/2", and string spacing at the bridge is 2" The playing surface is clean, with a few minor scratches and block position markers, and the patent pending chrome Fender headstock cover plate houses the stock single-line Kluson tuners. This steel has been freshly restrung here at Mike & Mike's Guitar Bar with roundwound 12s. There's a bell-like sweetness to the sound that is equal parts twang and silk, and few instruments have a more pure, simple signal path.
